How does Original Medicare differ from Medicare Advantage?

Original Medicare (Parts A & B) is the federal program that covers hospital and medical services. Medicare Advantage (Part C) is offered by private insurance companies and includes all Part A and B benefits, often with added extras like dental, vision, hearing, transportation, OTC allowances, and prescription drug coverage. Our team is ready to discuss your options and find a plan that best fits your needs.

Choosing the right plan depends on a variety of factors such as your doctors, prescriptions, health conditions, and budget. At Blueprint Health Agency, we provide a comprehensive review of your healthcare needs, current coverage, and the plans available in your area. Our licensed agents compare benefits side by side and help you determine which option gives you the right combination of coverage, value, and peace of mind.

If you have employer coverage, VA benefits, Tricare, or Medicaid, your Medicare choices may work differently. We explain how Medicare coordinates with your other insurance, whether you need additional coverage, and what options may help you save money or avoid penalties.

In many cases, yes — but it depends on the plan you choose. We verify your doctors, specialists, preferred hospitals, and prescriptions to make sure they’re in-network, so you know which options include your providers.

You can enroll during your Initial Enrollment Period around age 65 or during the Annual Enrollment Period, which runs from October 15 to December 7.
Certain situations may also qualify you for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) — such as moving, retiring, changes in Medicaid eligibility, being diagnosed with a chronic condition, and more.
Speak with one of our licensed agents today to understand which enrollment period applies to you and receive personalized guidance through your options.

Original Medicare does not include routine dental, vision, or hearing benefits. Many Medicare Advantage plans do — sometimes with $0 premiums and additional allowances. We are here to help you review the plans available in your area and understand exactly what benefits are included.
